The downside of publicity

I’m loving the changes to WordPress but there is a down side to making a beta public.

With the recent additions of showing the top blogs on the main page of wordpress.com comes spammers.  I’ve recieved multiple comments asking for invites with a small blurb of a compliment on whatever the post me be talking about.  Sad.

  2. You must be deleting the comments… but did you ever think they’re not so much “spam” as people curious, and not understanding how the invite works?

  3. not really, begging is spam. Been doing this way too long to find someone sincere in their comments with an added…hey can i have an invite?

  4. Maybe a message left on the front page stating that anyone who asks for an invite will not be given one!
Everyone who signed up for a notification will be sent an invite in the next few weeks and then all this furore will die down!
So, want an invite? Enter your email into the notification box at http://wordpress.com/ :)

  5. That would be awesome…it wouldn’t be so bad if invites were more common.
